"The Weight of the Jewels on the Line" is an acrylic painting on canvas. Since I have recently been experimenting with ways to paint water and aquatic life, I began to do more research on marine ecosystems and came across bluefin tuna, which were at risk due to overfishing. Their beauty, value, and circumstance seemed miserably poetic, making them an alluring choice for this piece. I then designed a composition to mimic harvested fish lying in ice at the market and replaced the ice with jewels instead.
